Man Warns He Has Gun, Robs Bank

A man who claimed to have a gun robbed a bank in Thousand Oaks on Thursday, authorities said.

The man entered the First Interstate Bank office at 3965 Thousand Oaks Blvd. around noon, “displayed a demand note” to a bank teller and warned that he had a gun, said Sheriff’s Sgt. Frank O’Hanlon.

The teller gave the robber an unknown amount of cash, and the man left through the north doors of the bank, O’Hanlon said.

No weapon was seen and no one was injured, he said.

The FBI is investigating the robbery, and the search for the suspect was continuing Thursday afternoon.

The suspect is described as white, in his mid-20s, 5-foot-9, with brown hair and wearing a close-shaven goatee and mustache.

He was wearing a black baseball cap with the Harley Davidson logo, white pants and a blue sweatshirt.

Ventura County Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case. Callers remain anonymous and the call is not recorded.
