Help for Getting the Teaching Started

The following is a list of some of the books and videos parents may use to teach children about the Holocaust.

* “Number the Stars,” by Lois Lowry. (Dell, 1989). $4.50.

* “Daniel’s Story,” by Carol Matas. (Scholastic, 1993). $3.95.

* “Daniel’s Story,” a 14-minute video produced in conjunction with an exhibit at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.

* “The Diary of a Young Girl,” by Anne Frank. Available in numerous hardcover and paperback editions.

* “The Last Seven Days of Anne Frank,” a 75-minute video.

* “Genocide,” a graphic 90-minute video produced by the Simon Wiesenthal Center. Recommended for mature high school students.
