Police arrested three men and two teenage boys Saturday night in an alleged drive-by shooting in Santa Paula, authorities said.

The shooting took place about 10:20 p.m. in the 100 block of 12th Street, said Santa Paula Police Sgt. S.C. Carter.

The father of one of the intended victims said his son and two friends were standing in their driveway when five males in a brown Cadillac drove by and fired four to five shots at them, police said.

The vehicle stopped and one of the occupants got out and fired a small handgun at them three more times.

An officer responding to the scene saw the Cadillac fleeing the area and gave chase. The vehicle was later stopped on westbound California 126, and with assistance from the California Highway Patrol and county probation officers all five suspects were taken into custody, Carter said.

A loaded semiautomatic pistol was found on the side of the freeway near the vehicle, Carter said.

No one was injured in the shooting, and it was not known if any of those involved claimed gang affiliation.

The two juveniles, both from Santa Paula, were booked into Juvenile Hall on suspicion of attempted murder.

Booked into the Ventura County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder were Robert Villanueva, 21; Juan Villanueva, 25, and Ricardo Resendez, 21, all of Santa Paula. Bail for each was set at $250,000, and all three are scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.
