JetHawks Squander Lead in Loss to Modesto, 13-10

The Modesto A’s scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to overcome a one-run deficit and defeat the JetHawks, 13-10, Tuesday night at John Thurman Field.

A base-loaded single by Emil Brown with none out in the eighth scored two runs, giving Modesto an 11-10 lead.

Curtis Shaw (9-3) picked up the victory after pitching 2 1/3 innings of effective relief.

The JetHawks (16-17) scored eight runs in the top of the fourth, but Modesto rallied to score eight in the bottom of the inning.

The problems continued for JetHawk starter Trey Moore. In his previous start, Moore allowed 11 runs in 1 2/3 innings.

Against the A’s, Moore allowed eight runs and walked six batters in 3 1/3 innings.

JetHawk outfielder Shane Monahan hit a home run to lead off the fourth inning, extending his hitting streak to 18 games.
