Savon Anything but Lethargic in 2 1/2-Minute Knockout of Swede

Felix Savon didn’t look so beatable this time.

Five days after sputtering to a tight first-round victory, the Cuban heavyweight favorite dominated Sweden’s Kwamena Turkson from the first second Thursday night, then ended the bout at 2:29 of the first with a savage right uppercut to the chin that sent Turkson to the canvas.

The referee was calling an end to the bout even before Turkson finished his slow-motion fall. As Turkson groggily staggered on his knees, Savon rushed to assist the referee draw Turkson back to his corner.

“He was in bad condition,” Savon told a media official. “He was too heavy for the referee to hold up. Two is better than one.”

At the time of the knockout, Savon had a 6-0 lead.
