Thousand Oaks Deputies to Closely Monitor Intersection

Share

It will pay to obey the speed laws next week in Thousand Oaks.

East county sheriff’s deputies have designated intersection of Thousand Oaks and Westlake boulevards as their “traffic tip of the week.”

Authorities have noted “a high number” of traffic accidents at the intersection because of drivers going too fast, Sgt. Ken Bailey said.

Also, drivers seem to be disregarding other traffic controls at the intersection, Bailey said. Between today and Saturday, deputies will be aggressively citing those who break traffic laws at the intersection, Bailey said.

Through its “traffic tip” program, the department hopes to reduce accidents and increase drivers’ awareness of the importance of driving safely.

The department also wants to help residents reduce abandoned vehicles in their neighborhoods. Anyone can call 371-8379 to report an abandoned car.
