Bill Nottingham, previously managing editor at the Los Angeles Times’ Orange County Edition, has been named editor of the edition, effective immediately, it was announced Monday by Shelby Coffey III, executive vice president and editor of The Times.

Nottingham, whose 11 years with the Times include seven years with the Orange County Edition, will oversee its 170-member editorial staff and will report to Robert G. Magnuson, president of the edition.

“Bill Nottingham is not only a superb journalist but one with vast experience serving our Orange County readers,” Coffey said.

He became assistant city editor of the Orange County Edition in ’89 and city editor in ’93. Nottingham has been managing editor since ’95. Before The Times, Nottingham was a staff writer for 12 years at the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times.
