Discussion to Focus on Banking Services

Share

The Fair Housing Council of the San Fernando Valley and the California Reinvestment Committee are sponsoring a brown-bag discussion Wednesday about lending and banking services.

One subject for discussion will be the lack of bank branches in Pacoima, said Sharon Kinlaw, senior housing coordinator with the council.

“TransWorld Bank has been the only bank for many years locally serving the banking needs of Pacoima residents,” Kinlaw said. “However, it does not provide loans for the purchase and refinancing of homes, a very important element that provides stability to neighborhoods.”

Kinlaw said that banking professionals and community advocates are expected to attend the discussion, which will be held between noon and 1:30 p.m. in the third floor conference room of the Fair Housing Council’s office at 8134 Van Nuys Blvd. in Panorama City.
