SUN VALLEY — A motorist was killed and a truck driver injured Monday in a fiery crash on the southbound Golden State Freeway near Hollywood Way, the California Highway Patrol reported.
CHP officers and the Los Angeles County coroner were unable to identify the body, which was burned beyond recognition.
The cause of the 4:20 p.m. collision, in which a car was trapped between a semi-tractor trailer and the center divider, is under investigation.
The driver of the car was killed but the truck driver suffered only minor injuries and was transported to Thompson Memorial Medical Center in Burbank, said CHP Officer Shirley Gaines.
The accident closed at least two lanes, backing up traffic for several miles.
