Frank L. Graham, a Los Angeles city firefighter for 25 years, died Monday of heart failure. He was 77.

Born in St. Paul, Minn., Graham moved with his family to Los Angeles when he was a child. He grew up in Huntington Park.

Graham was drafted in 1941 and took part in the Normandy invasion as a member of the Signal Corps.

He married his wife Madge just after the war in 1945. In 1949, he joined the Los Angeles Fire Department, retiring as a captain. He moved from his San Fernando Valley home in 1980 to Ventura. Graham was widowed in 1993 and remarried a year later. His hobbies included golf and watching sports.

“He was a great inspiration and comfort to his whole family,” said Graham’s son, Stephen. “He always gave us guidance and support. He was a good, ethical man . . . with a twinkle in his eye.”

Graham is also survived by wife Lorraine and three daughters, Christine Spencer of Scotts Valley, Irene Graham of Atascadero and Francie Gibson of Fountain Valley, and seven grandchildren.

Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Ventura at 10 a.m. Friday. Interment will be at the Santa Clara Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home, Ventura.
