Officers Plan Annual Pancake Breakfast

Share

They vowed to protect and serve, and on Saturday officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire Division will be doing some of that--at least the serve part--at a community breakfast.

Officers, along with elected officials and volunteers, will be grilling pancakes and sausages to help raise funds to add to their community policing budget, said Capt. Vance Proctor of the Devonshire Division.

“These breakfasts bring us together with the community and give the public an overview of why these projects are needed and how it makes this a safer place to live,” he said.

Proceeds from the third annual breakfast, sponsored by the Supporters of Law Enforcement in Devonshire, will be used to purchase materials and equipment not available from the city, as well as help maintain the two community service centers established by the division.

Proctor said the funds will be used to help maintain the cars the senior lead officers use and to purchase sound and public address systems they use when they go out to meet the community.

Organizers hope to raise at least $7,000 for the senior lead officers, who do not have a budget for some expenses they incur on the job.

The breakfast will be from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. in front of the Devonshire station, 10250 Etiwanda Ave., Northridge. Tickets are $2.50.
