LEARN Campus Still Taking New Students
Gridley Street Elementary School, a Los Angeles Unified School District LEARN campus, is currently accepting new students.
Located at 1907 8th St. in San Fernando, Gridley is a three-track year-round school. In a continuing cycle, students in each of the three tracks attend school for two months and then have a month of vacation.
The next track begins today, but Gridley will continue to accept new students throughout the year, according to school officials.
Gridley offers a full bilingual program as well as an English language development program and an English program. The school also has free parenting education classes, a computer lab and an after-school playground that is open until 6 p.m.
The LEARN program, now instituted in almost 40% of the district’s 858 schools and centers, seeks to decentralize control of campuses by turning over key decisions to a panel of parents, staff and teachers.
