Brave left-hander Steve Avery didn’t do any new damage to the pulled muscle in his left side when he tried to pitch in a minor league rehabilitation assignment.
Avery, who has been sidelined because of the injury since early July, threw only four pitches Monday night for double-A Greenville before leaving the game.
“It felt good warming up and that [fourth] pitch did it,” Avery said.
An MRI test in Atlanta on Tuesday showed Avery only had aggravated the injury, the team said. He will go back to his treatment regimen, including stretching exercises.
