Splash Rallies to Defeat Twisters
The Splash scored five goals in the fourth quarter to beat the Indianapolis Twisters, 12-10 Wednesday at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis.
With the score tied, 7-7, at the end of the third quarter, the Splash (9-5) took a two-goal lead mid-way through the fourth quarter on goals by Raffaele Ruotolo and Dale Ervine.
The Twisters rallied, however, with a goal by Matt Blackbourne to come within one, but Ervine scored again to give the Splash a 10-8 lead.
After a Twister goal by Mark Bollella, Pat McDonnell made it 11-9. The Twisters’ Terry Rowe scored his second goal of the game to bring Indianapolis within one again, but Ervine iced it.
Ervine, who is ranked sixth in the league with 25 goals, scored a game-high four goals. He also had one assist, which gives him 15 this season.
Ruotolo finished with three goals and two assists and Danny Barber had two. Splash goalkeeper Ruben Fernandez had 13 saves.
Rowe, Bollella and Mahnt Reeves each had two goals for the Twisters (6-11).
