Left-Turn Lights OKd at Cerritos and Knott

After hearing residents’ complaints that the intersection at Cerritos Avenue and Knott Avenue is hazardous, the City Council voted this week to move ahead with a plan to install left-turn signals in all four directions.

Stanton resident Kim Warrington has lobbied City Hall for more than a year to get new traffic lights at the intersection, where a 2-year-old girl was killed in an automobile accident. The vehicle, driven by the girl’s mother, was turning left onto Knott from Cerritos.

The council decided to follow up on Warrington’s request after reviewing a traffic study that showed traffic at the intersection was heavier than in other parts of the city.

The council has budgeted $90,000 for the project, which officials said they expect to begin within a few months.
