Two armed men wearing nylon stockings over their faces robbed the Great Western Bank at Soledad Canyon and Sand Canyon roads in Santa Clarita on Saturday, sheriff deputies said.

Two suspects were arrested after a freeway chase, said Sgt. Steve Jenkins of the Santa Clarita station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Jenkins said the men demanded that tellers empty their cash drawers into a backpack and fled south on the Golden State Freeway in a four-door, aquamarine Buick.

They led eight sheriff’s patrol cars on a chase down the freeway and onto the Foothill Freeway before they were apprehended near Osborne Street, authorities said.

Stocking masks, guns and $3,800 in cash were found in the car. Aaron Sarver, 27, of Los Alamitos and Jason Jones, 24, of Palm Springs were booked at the Santa Clarita station on suspicion of armed robbery.
