Newborn Girl Found on Doorstep
Authorities on Monday were searching for the woman who gave birth to a girl and then hours later abandoned the newborn uncovered and unclothed on the doorstep of apartment in an unincorporated area near Monrovia.
The healthy Latino baby was discovered about 4 a.m. Sunday by a woman who awoke to a knock at her door, said sheriff’s Deputy Britta Tubbs. The newborn was taken by deputies from the apartment complex in 2500 block of Peck Road to Methodist Hospital of Southern California in Arcadia.
“The baby is doing fine,” said Tubbs.
Authorities said the youngster will be placed in the custody of the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services.
