Police Will Set Up Sobriety Checkpoint
Oxnard police will conduct another in a series of sobriety checkpoints Friday at an undisclosed intersection in the western portion of the city.
Traffic enforcement officers will interview drivers and administer field sobriety tests to any motorist who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said.
Officers also plan to check the status of the licenses of most drivers in an effort to get unlicensed motorists off the streets.
State law now allows police to impound the car of a driver found operating a vehicle without a valid license.
Police would not disclose the location of the checkpoint, which will run from 7 p.m. Friday until early Saturday.
