Center fielder Brett Butler, who underwent throat cancer surgery in May, will rejoin the Dodgers Monday in Montreal.

Butler, who had one cancerous, thumb-sized, lymph-node tumor removed during surgery on May 3, and 49 benign lymph nodes removed during surgery on May 21, still has numbness in his right shoulder because his nerves were irritated when the incision was made.

Butler lost weight after undergoing six weeks of radiation therapy but has gained 15 pounds and weighs 160.

“He’s getting his strength back and he’s gaining a lot of weight,” Manager Bill Russell said. “He’s going to be a big lift to the team. I know he can’t wait to put on that uniform and sit in the dugout. If anybody can come back and play he will.”

Outfielder Todd Hollandsworth, batting .293 with 46 runs batted in, said he’s not concerned about becoming the fifth consecutive Dodger to win the award for rookie of the year.

“That hasn’t been on my mind all season,” Hollandsworth said. “My main objective is to win a World Series. “You get to the end of the season and you critique yourself and see how you did in certain areas and areas you need improvement in.”

Infielder Wilton Guerrero, one of the Dodgers’ best minor league prospects, was examined by team physician Michael Mellman after the club became concerned because Guerrero lost 12 pounds and complained of fatigue while playing at Albuquerque. “There was nothing wrong with him,” Mellman said. “I just changed his diet and helped him out a little bit with a more balanced diet.” . . . Pitcher Darren Hall, who underwent elbow surgery in April, threw batting practice for the second time since the surgery before Wednesday night’s game against the Phillies. Hall threw about 35 pitches, 15 for strikes.
