Fair Parade Brings Out County’s Best
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Ventura County Fair Board, which selected me to be the grand marshal at the 1996 Ventura County Fair on Aug. 17.
What a thrill it was to see so many people line the streets of Ventura to cheer on the parade! As a native Venturan, I count it as one of the high points of my life.
My father, Harry Lyon, who passed away in 1984, served as grand marshal for the fair in 1983. I’m sure he would have enjoyed watching his son follow in his footsteps. Judging from all the fine people who organized, participated in or just observed the parade, Ventura County is the best place in the world to live, work and raise a family.
Thanks to all who made the experience so wonderful.
