Despite generally bad reviews, New Line’s thriller “The Island of Dr. Moreau,” starring Marlon Brando and Val Kilmer, debuted in first place, narrowly edging out last week’s top grosser, the Kevin Costner comedy “Tin Cup.” Edward Burns’ latest comedy, “She’s the One,” just missed the top 10, taking in $2,088,500 on 459 screens for an average of $4,550 per screen.
