The city’s school district will install more than 200 state-of-the-art computers and printers in all fourth- and fifth-grade classrooms and language arts and math classes this fall as the first phase of the recently adopted Instructional Technology Plan, officials said.

Approved by the district’s Board of Education this spring, the technology plan will provide $657,000 for computers and equipment.

Each school already has a computer lab, but officials said they want to equip more classrooms with computers. The district will also begin installing multimedia centers in each school library. All will have Internet access and color printing capabilities.
