Bert Boeckmann Ticket Probe
Re “City Probes Huge Ticket Claim on Boeckmann,” Aug. 27.
I don’t personally know if Bert Boeckmann, owner of Galpin [Motors] and probably the biggest political powerhouse in the city, owes the city over $11,000 in parking fines as was charged by city parking official Jay Carsman.
If it is true, then Boeckmann, who sits on the Police Commission, should promptly pay up and hang his head in shame.
Carsman’s boss, Michael Inouye, should include an investigation of who covered up and/or who allowed this ticket accumulation allegedly to go on for five years. Most importantly, [Boeckmann] should be handled by Inouye as he would any other citizen. Presuming that city employees permitted these alleged delinquencies in a bow to political pressure--then they should be fired forthwith no matter how high their office.
Further, if it is proved that Carsman’s books are correct, he should be rewarded for courage and for defending the taxpayers’ interest.
The fact that Carsman doesn’t have good feelings about Boeckmann is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is if there are tickets and money due. The tickets will speak for themselves.
