The United Way of Ventura County will announce its fund-raising goals for the 1996-97 campaign during a kickoff luncheon Sept. 19 from noon to 1:30 p.m.

More than 200 elected officials, community leaders and members of the public are expected to attend the luncheon at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, 800 Hobson Way.

The annual United Way fund-raising campaigns, which run from mid-September through June, target corporations, small businesses and individual entrepreneurs for donations.

The United Way distributes the money to various nonprofit organizations throughout Ventura County, including Food Share, the YMCA, the Salvation Army and the American Heart Assn.

Fund-raising goals for each campaign are set by United Way volunteers living in communities served by the organization.

The goal for the 1995-96 campaign was set at $5.5 million, but the drive netted about $5.2 million. The lunch costs $8. For reservations, call 485-6288, Ext. 235.
