TUSTIN — A police officer fired four shots at a suspect who allegedly threatened him and his partner with a gun, police said Monday.
The suspect, Sammy Arredondo Jr., 31, of Tustin was not hit by the gunfire. He is being held in Orange County Jail on $10,000 bail on suspicion of being a convicted felon in possession of a gun and exhibiting a gun in the presence of a police officer.
The incident occurred at 5:35 p.m. Monday, after two officers responded to a call about a possible prowler in an apartment laundry room near Red Hill Avenue and El Camino Real, police said.
Arredondo allegedly spotted the officers, turned to run and then pulled a semiautomatic pistol from his waistband. One officer fired at Arredondo, who then threw down his gun and surrendered, police said.
