Blue Line Train Collides With Car Stopped on Tracks
A Long Beach-to-Los Angeles Blue Line commuter train collided with an automobile at 12:51 p.m. Monday, causing minor injuries to a Los Angeles woman and her daughter in the car, a Fire Department spokesman said.
The accident occurred in the 1800 block of 115th Street when the automobile driver made an illegal left turn and, because of traffic, was forced to stop on the train tracks, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Carl Henderson.
The No. 8 train caught the rear corner of the vehicle and spun it around, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
The driver, a Los Angeles woman, and her daughter were taken to Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital, where they listed in good condition.
There were no injuries aboard the train.
