Northwestern Cornerback Suspended
Northwestern’s Hudhaifa Ismaeli, a nickel back who had been moved to cornerback, was suspended for the team’s opening game against Wake Forest at Winston-Salem, N.C.
“He’s broken a team rule and is suspended for one game,” Wildcat Coach Gary Barnett said, refusing to elaborate. Ismaeli, who had seven sacks, four fumble recoveries and a pass interception last season, will rejoin the team the following week.

He suffered a torn medial collateral ligament, torn lateral cartilage and a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on the first play of the second quarter of Saturday’s 38-14 victory over Kentucky.
