Northwestern’s Hudhaifa Ismaeli, a nickel back who had been moved to cornerback, was suspended for the team’s opening game against Wake Forest at Winston-Salem, N.C.
“He’s broken a team rule and is suspended for one game,” Wildcat Coach Gary Barnett said, refusing to elaborate. Ismaeli, who had seven sacks, four fumble recoveries and a pass interception last season, will rejoin the team the following week.

Louisville’s top returning running back, sophomore Frank Moreau, will sit out the remainder of the season after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery. He suffered a torn medial collateral ligament, torn lateral cartilage and a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee on the first play of the second quarter of Saturday’s 38-14 victory over Kentucky.
