Morning Clouds, Mild Weather Expected for Weekend
Hurricane Fausto may be battering the southern Baja peninsula, but it is not responsible for the “fog kind of drizzle” felt in Orange County on Friday morning or this weekend’s expected morning clouds, according to weather forecasters.
Instead, an upper-level storm that swept onto the West Coast on Friday is the culprit. The storm, which is expected to remain over Northern California and points northward, brought moisture to the morning air and had some people thinking it was rain.
“It’s not actual showers,” explained Curtis Brack, a meteorologist with WeatherData, which provides forecasts for the Times. “It’s because there is so much moisture in the air from the deep marine layer.”
For the next several days, it is expected to remain cloudy in the morning, but the skies will clear up and become mostly sunny each afternoon.
On Friday, Santa Ana was the warmest spot in the county at 79 degrees, with Laguna Beach close behind at 78.
Weekend temperatures are expected to be slightly higher, ranging from the upper 60s at the beaches to the low 80s inland, Brack said.
Moisture from the hurricane is being swept up into central Arizona and points eastward, Brack said.
