Angels’ Rainout Spotlights Royal Rookie

The Angel game at Kansas City against the Royals scheduled for Sunday was rained out. It will not be made up.

The game never started and was called after a wait of 57 minutes.

That means rookie Jose Rosado of the Royals will have a chance to be part of history--whether he likes it or not.

Rosado was scheduled to start against the Angels, but had his outing pushed back. Tonight, he’ll face the Minnesota Twins and Paul Molitor, who needs two hits to become the 21st player to reach 3,000 hits.

“I know a lot of good pitchers have given up hits to Paul Molitor,” Rosado said. “But I don’t want to go into the record book with anything negative.”

Molitor, 40, was hitless in three at-bats Sunday against Seattle.

“I will try to pitch to him just the same way as if he was a rookie looking for his first hit,” Rosado said.
