Lyn Krieger, the deputy city manager for the city of Stockton, has been hired as the new harbor director for Channel Islands Harbor.

The position pays $83,300 a year.

In April, the harbor district became the Harbor Department by the Ventura County Board of Supervisors, as a means to making the commercial waterfront a key recreational facility and business center.

Krieger brings 18 years of experience in administration, finance, economic development and redevelopment. In addition, she has property management experience in numerous waterfront projects, including a private marina, two city-owned marinas and a proposed marina expansion.

“She is very impressive and will assist greatly in enhancing the economic viability of the harbor,” said Supervisor John K. Flynn, whose district includes Channel Islands Harbor.

This is not Krieger’s first time in the area. From 1977 to 1980, Krieger--who received a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Chicago--was director of the Human Services Commission in Santa Barbara County.

She and her husband, Paul Krieger, who is a research consultant on Japanese language and culture, will relocate from Stockton in November.
