SATURDAY: ‘Snow White’ in the Park

Remember Snow White, that most fair of princesses who stumbled upon the cottage of the seven dwarfs some 30 years ago? Even if you resisted buying the Disney classic on video for the kids, you don’t want to miss the upcoming production in the park by the Simi Valley Recreation and Park District.

It’s the final installment of the district’s “Fairy Tales in the Park” children’s theater series, which usually draws about 200 parents and kids. Bring your snacks and blankets for the hourlong shows.

Snow White, which is offered at 5 p.m. and again at 6:30 p.m., will mark the first time the district has staged a performance with child actors, most of whom came from the district’s summer acting classes.

Chamber Music Trio

Formerly known as the Bach Camerata--a Santa Barbara-based contingent of chamber musicians--the ensemble returns for a new musical season with a new working moniker, Camerata Pacifica.

Led by founder-flutist Adrian Spence, Camerata Pacifica, here in trio format, will perform a benefit concert at 7:30 p.m. at the Oak Grove School Pavilion, 220 W. Lomita Ave., Ojai. Spence’s cohorts will be pianist Joanne Pearce and violinist Donald McInnes. The program includes works by Devienne, Copland, Brahms and Godard.

A champagne reception will be held from 6:15-7:15 p.m. at the Ranch House Restaurant. The $75 per person tab includes reserved concert seating. For those only going to the concert, a minimum donation of $25 is requested. Proceeds will help fund construction of the school’s new art building. For more information, call 646-8236.

MONDAY: Night of Blues

The Blue Monday concert series, which turned into Sweet Thursday before reverting to Blue Monday again, will return to the blues of oblivion following the Imperial Crowns show Monday night at Alexander’s in Ventura.

It figures to be a memorable last show in the series. The band is a trio of pros doing that rockin’ blues thing and featuring Jimmie Wood, “The Cadillac of Harmonica Players.”

Wood has a vast collection of credits that include Etta James, the Smithereens, Dave Alvin and even Megadeth. J.J. Holiday is the guitar player and drummer Billy Sullivan is the third Crown. UP THE COAST

* The 20th annual festival of cars--the rare and expensive kind--known as the Santa Barbara Concours d’Elegance will be held Saturday at Santa Barbara City College.

Car enthusiasts from around the state show up to peruse the stylish automobiles at this judged show, a kind of automotive decadence. Held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the show features over 180 exotic sports cars, antiques, rare luxury cars and others.

Proceeds benefit the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara. Tickets: $15 advance, $17 at gate; $10 students; children under 12 free with an adult. For more information, call 965-7212.

The Santa Barbara Renaissance Festival will be held Saturday and Sunday at Live Oak Camp, located on California 154 near Lake Cachuma.

Using “Peter and the Wolf” for inspiration, The Performance Studio will present “Themes and Variations” on Sept. 28-29.
