ADM Sues FBI Mole for $30 Million: Archer-Daniels-Midland Co. of Decatur, Ill., is demanding in a lawsuit that turncoat executive Mark E. Whitacre return his pay and money it says he stole from the company because he worked undercover for the government. The lawsuit, filed this week in state court in Decatur, seeks $30 million from Whitacre, the former president of ADM’s BioProducts division. It contends he broke a confidentiality agreement signed in 1991 that required him to report wrongdoing to the company instead of the government. Whitacre said he never signed such a pledge and called any document ADM might possess “clearly fabricated.” An ADM spokesman did not immediately return a telephone message seeking comment. ADM’s move against Whitacre is its latest salvo aimed at attacking his credibility. The Justice Department is expected to indict ADM and two of its top executives within a week on charges of colluding with competitors on prices for the animal-feed supplement lysine.
