SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Now you can put more pedal to the metal--manually or electrically.

Beverly Hills Motoring Accessories has just introduced its Electribike line, which features two models--a six-speed cruiser for the streets and an 18-speed mountain bike. Each has a dual 600-watt silent electric motor that can power riders down the street or up hills at speeds up to 20 mph with the flick of a switch.

The unisex Electribikes weigh about 25 pounds each (with motors). Batteries can charge in less than three hours with a plug-in charger, or their circuitry can turn the dual motors into generators, recharging as you ride.

Each bike comes in blue, black or red and costs $995. Riders also can get a motor system kit to add to their own bikes. Kits cost $495 each. Call (800) FOR-BHMA.
