Finley Surveys Disappointing Season
Chuck Finley, who reached the 200-strikeout plateau for the first time in his 11-year career Monday night, said it was little consolation in a season he considers disappointing.
Finley, who will start one more game, Saturday in Texas, is 15-15 with a 4.14 earned-run average.
“I think I’ve had pretty good stuff all season, but I’m not going to hide behind a screen and say I’ve pitched better than my record indicates,” he said. “Your stuff is only as good as what you do with it.
“Some nights you’re lucky, some you aren’t and sometimes you just flat-out pitch bad. But I’m disappointed because I think there are about three games I could’ve added to the win column and about four losses that probably hinged on one bad pitch.”
