Youth in Intensive Care After Shooting
A 16-year-old boy remained in intensive care Friday after being found on the side of a road in Oxnard with numerous gunshot wounds.
The boy was found about 8 p.m. Thursday near Wood and Hueneme roads by an off-duty California Highway Patrol officer, said Capt. Larry Robertson of the Sheriff’s Department’s major crimes division.
The severely wounded boy was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center, where he underwent surgery early Friday.
Robertson would not identify the youth or say where he was shot. Such information could impede the investigation, he said. However, Robertson said the shooting was not gang-related.
Anyone with information about the shooting should contact Robertson at 654-2340.
