RE-LEDDED
The three surviving members of Led Zeppelin are planning a one-time reunion for a charity concert in England next summer as a tribute to their longtime manager Peter Grant, who died last November.
No date has been announced for the show, which will benefit the Nordoff-Robbins Trust, but it is expected to take place at the outdoor Knebworth County Park. That was the site of the last Zeppelin U.K. show in August, 1979, before the group disbanded in the wake of drummer John Bonham’s death. Bonham’s son Jason is expected to fill the drum seat for this show.
The plans indicate that the Zeppelin members have overcome the acrimony engendered when singer Robert Plant and guitarist Jimmy Page did not invite bassist John Paul Jones to participate in their 1995 “No Quarter” album and tour, at least for the special occasion. The group has reunited several times before, including for the 1985 Live Aid concert and at its 1995 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
