City Seeks Entries for Festival Photo Contest

Share

The organizers of the annual Calabasas Days Pumpkin Festival have put out a call for entries in their first photo contest held in conjunction with the event.

One winner and a runner-up will be selected in each of three categories: the history of Calabasas, the spirit of Calabasas and Calabasas Days.

All ages are welcome to submit original snapshots to the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce by Oct. 7. The photographs can be in color or black and white, but must be no larger than 8 by 10 inches in size.

The winners will receive gift certificates, photo albums or picture frames, and their pictures will be displayed at the festival Oct. 19 and 20 at Paramount Ranch. After the festival, the photographs will be put on display at the chamber offices.

While the Calabasas Days category will of course attract photographs from festivals past, and the history category will probably include shots of the city’s historic Leonis Adobe, the spirit category is a bit more open to interpretation.

“The spirit of Calabasas is pretty open to whatever people feel it is,” said chamber member Brian Shore. “It’s going to be quite fun to see which pictures are entered into which category. What I may think is a picture of the history, someone else might consider to be the spirit.

“We’ve left it open for people to use their imaginations.”
