No Dough: The Channel America Television Network, whose move to Glendale was welcomed as a boost to the region’s show business aspirations, is out of cash and closed. (D1) . . . The company, which shows old movies on cable TV, owes creditors and former employees about $200,000.

Big Dough: Just one of the 400 richest people in America lives in the Valley. He’s Michael Milken, the Encino-based former junk bond king and ex-con turned philanthropist. . . . In its annual list, Forbes Magazine says Milken is worth $600 million.

From the Top: A view from the air shows the Valley as it might appear to an alien who appreciates art. Check out the Encino Little League fields, above, as photographed by Marshall La Plante. The shooter, who lives in Saugus, has snapped the region from helicopters and construction cranes--even from the sides of skyscrapers. . . . More pictures in Valley Gallery. (B14)

No More Simba: Parents can always tell when the Hollywood studios have done a big marketing job because kids all want to be the year’s hot character for Halloween. Just check the moldy Pocahontas and Power Ranger costumes still cluttering the closet. This fall, though, it’s back to pumpkins, Barbies and ghouls, says Catharine Lee of Target in Northridge. . . . The reason? No hot movies or TV shows to emulate. “When the movie industry hasn’t come up with anything that’s hot, then the manufacturers don’t know what to make,” said Lenny Goldman of the seasonal costume shop chain Halloween Adventure. “So they make the traditional.”
