Trail Posse: County Supervisor Mike Antonovich and about 150 other dudes will mount up this weekend to check out new trails at Castaic Lake. The Saturday morning ride will be followed by a barbecue, western dancing to a live band and a camp-out. . . . The parks department and equestrian groups sponsor the event twice a year to promote the county’s Adopt-A-Trail program. . . . Reservations are a must by today: (818) 821-3218. Tickets are $12 for Saturday, $20 overnight.

Elusive Music: The New West Symphony’s season opener this weekend is a showstopper: the most remarkable pianist you’ve never heard of. Brazilian-born Arnaldo Cohen shuns recordings and admits that no two performances are ever the same. . . . There are two chances to hear him make music: Friday in Thousand Oaks, Saturday in Oxnard (F1).

Classic Shtick: The Skirball Cultural Center’s first film festival focuses on American Jewish comedy. Compiled by New York curator David Schwartz, the collection of humor plays through the month (F1B). Look for plenty of Brooks, Reiner and Woody Allen. . . . Some of it is screamingly funny; one film sat on a shelf for decades.
