Pacific Chorale Season to Begin With Te Deum

The Pacific Chorale will open its 29th season Oct. 26 at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, where music director John Alexander will lead the chorale and the Pacific Symphony in settings of the Te Deum text by Bruckner, Dvorak, Verdi and Persichetti.

Soloists will include soprano Susan Alexander, mezzo-soprano Adelaide Sinclair, tenor Paul L. Johnson and bass Michael Gallup.

The season, Alexander’s 25th as head of the chorale, will continue at the center Dec. 7 with a holiday program; an a cappella concert April 26; and a “Songs of the Sea” program June 6. That concert will include the world premiere of “From the Realm of the Sea,” by James F. Hopkins, the chorale’s composer-in-residence.

Concerts begin at 8 p.m.

Season tickets are $44 to $320 ($35 to $256 for students and seniors). Single ticket prices will vary. Single tickets for Oct. 26 are $18 to $46 ($14 to $37 for students and seniors).

On May 3, the chorale will host the 10th annual Choral Festival at the center. Sixteen high school choirs from throughout Southern California will participate, starting at 9 a.m. Adjudicators will include Alexander, Alvin Brightbill of Saddleback College in Mission Viejo and Janice Wyma of Irvine Valley College. Children’s choirs will participate beginning at 3 p.m. Admission will be free.

The chorale will also present the Pacific Chorale Children’s Choruses in a Father’s Day concert June 15 at 4 p.m. at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. Tickets: $8 ($5 for children 12 and under).
