Organizers Switching Valley Fair to June

Share

People attending next year’s Valley Fair should get a break from the usual sweltering heat. Based on feedback from steaming fair-goers, organizers have moved the event from July to early June.

In addition to expecting cooler weather, organizers hope to involve more children in the event, now scheduled for June 5-8, because school will still be in session. Fair spokesman Vincent Maffei said that although students already take part, especially in the livestock exhibitions, an effort is underway to attract students, who haven’t historically come to the fair.

An exit survey at this year’s fair, which ran from July 25-28, gave it high marks, showing dissatisfaction only with the weather, Maffei said. Some tinkering may await the entertainment lineup, though.
