CHP Expands Task Force Investigating Freeway Attacks
- Share via
The California Highway Patrol announced Friday that it would expand its Vandal Apprehension Team, a task force of patrol officers and undercover investigators dedicated to making arrests in the freeway sniper incidents that have plagued Los Angeles.
CHP officials declined to say how many officers would be assigned to the team, but said that the move came after a Thursday night directive from Gov. Pete Wilson ordering the CHP to use all necessary resources to stop the attacks.
Including four new incidents Thursday, 150 vehicles on several freeways have had their rear windows shattered by unidentified projectiles. So far, no one has been injured in the attacks.
