Final Hearing Set on Proposed Bus Fare Changes

Share

Bus riders in the San Gabriel Valley have one last chance to get their voices heard Saturday in a public hearing to discuss Foothill Transit’s proposed fare changes.

Only a total of 15 people showed up at the transportation company’s last four public hearings, and officials don’t expect a large crowd at the 2 p.m. meeting at 100 N. Barranca Ave. in West Covina.

Some of the proposed changes include restructuring the zones to facilitate express bus riders and increasing the cost of basic fare by 5 or 10 cents, said Roger Chapin, executive director of Foothill Transit.

Riders who have gone to meetings said they are supportive. Vincent Moreno, a self-described “satisfied customer” said he would not mind paying more for the ride, but Chapin said zoning changes may actually lower the fare for many express commuters.
