A notable change to the TAG Days itinerary is the entertainment at Disneyland’s welcoming dinner Oct. 24.

Travel agents were supposed to get a sneak peak at the park’s upcoming Light Magic parade, which will replace the venerable Main Street Electrical Parade next year. Turns out Disneyland squelched that plan and will entertain the visitors at its months-old Hunchback-themed Festival of Fools instead. “Disney said they weren’t in a position to show it off at this time,” Gallaugher said of the new parade.

Disney’s well-oiled marketing machine rarely goes off track, thus the cancellation suggests technical and creative difficulties for the new extravaganza. That’s the buzz from inside the park anyway.

Not so, says Disneyland Resort President Paul Pressler, who insists that the project is chugging right along. “We’re right on schedule,” he says.

Light Magic, set to premiere next spring, will mix fiber optic technology and light projection techniques with traditional floats and more than 100 performers. Disneyland workers have been busy putting fiber optic cables in the buildings along Main Street, whose facades will light up as part of the show.

Look for Tinker Bell to supplant the Blue Fairy as the new diva of the nighttime spectacular.
