11-Year-Old Boy Missing After He Uses Wrong Bus Stop

Share

Police were searching late Thursday for an 11-year-old boy who apparently got off his school bus at a wrong stop on Harbor Boulevard and had not called home or shown up seven hours later.

Cuong Ngoc Thach, a student at Susan B. Anthony Elementary School at Brookhurst Street and McFadden Avenue, lives just half a mile from the school. But police said the boy apparently got on a bus with a new bus driver.

“Apparently a new bus driver didn’t know where he lived,” Lt. Mike Schliskey said. “Either the kid got off the bus at the wrong stop, or maybe it was a last stop. He got off somewhere on Harbor Boulevard.”

The boy was seen getting off the bus sometime between 3 and 3:30 p.m. He is 4 feet 6 and 70 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, with a scar over his right eye. He was wearing a blue T-shirt and blue jeans.

Schliskey said the boy takes medication for attention deficit disorder.

“His parents say he has trouble getting home from school normally,” he said. “Depending on where he got dropped off, it’ll be a lot harder.”

Thach lives in the 9500 block of McFadden Avenue and apparently knows his address, police said.
