The sawdust will meet the sand at the 1997 Orange County Fair.
The Orange County Fair Board adopted “We’re Goin’ Tropical: Nuttin’ but Fun!” as the slogan for the 105th fair, spokeswoman Lynn Howes said.
Visitors will be invited to relax on stretches of sand, listen to island music and eat tropical cuisine during the July 11-27 event. Island plant life, murals, sand sculptures and other decorative elements will grace the fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, officials said.
Livestock, produce, rides, music and other agricultural mainstays will return in 1997 as well.
