Keep Motors Off of Lake Casitas

Share

I know that a lot of people would like to see Lake Casitas thrown open to all uses, but I hope that the water district board will make a wiser decision.

Allowing non-motorized contact uses will enhance the value of Lake Casitas to the people of Ventura County. Swimming, canoeing and windsurfing will not impact the current users of the lake. Letting water-skiers and jet-skiers on the lake would.

If heavy, motorized uses are allowed, the only people who will be using the lake will be the jet- and water-skiers. Fishermen and those who just want to putter around the lake or shore will not be able to use a lake that is full of speeding boats and jet skis. People who want to relax in a quiet, lakeside camp, or watch the wildlife, will be denied that use. Just go to any of the many lakes in the area that allow water-skiing and jet skis.

Please join me in calling the Casitas Municipal Water District, and let them know that you support preserving that special quality that makes Lake Casitas such a valuable resource for the people of Ventura County.
