If all political candidates raised money for their campaigns the same way Chris Peterson did, there’s no telling what might be for sale.

Peterson, a candidate for the Legislature, held a garage sale at her Grand Island home this weekend to finance her campaign.

She has refused to accept money from special-interest groups, instead raising whatever she can from stuffed animals, exercise tapes and old purses.

Peterson hoped to raise about $200 from the sale, which she said allowed her to get better acquainted with residents.
