Ramada Main Gate to Become a Fairfield Inn

Share

A real estate trust operated by the Marriott family has bought the Ramada Main Gate Inn in Anaheim and will convert it to a Fairfield Inn by Marriott by early next year, hotel sources confirmed Monday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but industry sources said Marriott bought the 465-room hotel for $18.5 million from San Diego developer Roger Manfred.

David McDaniel, general manager of the hotel, said Marriott plans to renovate the rooms and upgrade the lobby and public areas. He said the name will be changed to Fairfield Inn when the renovations are completed in about six months.

Fairfield Inn is the economy segment of the Marriott family of hotels, which include Residence Inn by Marriott, Courtyard by Marriott and Marriott Hotels, Resorts and Suites.

Anaheim hotels already affiliated with Marriott include the Anaheim Marriott and Residence Inn by Marriott-Anaheim. The new purchase, McDaniel said, represents a chance to gain another segment of the market in Anaheim.
