Music Guild to Begin New Season

The 52nd season of Music Guild, a leading Southern California presenter of chamber music, begins the week of Oct. 21, when the Mendelssohn String Quartet plays in three locations.

With a program including two quartets by Beethoven (Opus 18, No. 1, and Opus 130) and Janacek’s Quartet No. 1, the touring ensemble will play Oct. 21 at Pierce College in Woodland Hills, Oct. 22 at Cal State Long Beach and Oct. 23 at the Wilshire-Ebell Theatre, 4401 W. Eighth St.

The Parisii Quartet will play in the same locations on consecutive nights, Nov. 11-13; its program lists works by Webern, Brahms and Beethoven. On Jan. 20 through 22, the American String Quartet will perform music by Mozart, Wolf and Beethoven.

The Beethoven Piano Trio Vienna plays for Music Guild, Feb. 24-26; its program includes pieces by Beethoven, Ravel and Dvorak. For March 17, 18 and 19, the Artis String Quartet has programmed Mendelssohn’s Quartet in E-flat, Opus 16; Haydn’s Quartet in G minor, Opus 74, No. 3; and Schubert’s Quartet in D minor, D. 810.

Closing the season, the Dunsmuir Piano Quartet appears April 28-30, playing works by Beethoven, Turina and Brahms.
